Thursday is our trip to Canada's Wonderland. Here are some things you will need to know.

-the bus leaves at 9 am. Please be on time or you will miss the bus.
-wear your Phys. Ed. uniform
-wear a hat
-wear sunscreen - teachers will not apply sunscreen - students must come to school with sunscreen already applied
-you must bring money for lunch as Canada's Wonderland will not permit lunches to be brought in
This is what is stated on the Canada's Wonderland website:
"The safety of our guests and associates is our number one priority. We need your assistance in an effort to make the park entry process as efficient as possible. Here's how you can help:
Please leave all non-essential purses, backpacks, book bags, fanny packs and other bags and packages at home or locked in the trunk of your car.
You will be asked to open purses, backpacks or other bags for inspection upon entry.
Please note that food and drinks MAY NOT be brought into the park. Plastic bottled water is permitted."

Arts Night is Wednesday, June 2 at 7 pm. Your child will be performing a play on stage. Your child should wear smart casual clothing. Your child's art work will also be display. Please invite friends and family.

Graduation is Wednesday, June 9 at 7 pm. Your child will be receiving a certificate for successfully completing their grade. Some awards will also be given out. Most of the awards will be given out on Friday, June 11 during our last assembly of the year.

The last day of school is June 11. Please note that this is a half-day only. Pick-up time is 12 pm. After school care begins at 12 pm. Please let us know if you require after school care for that day.

There is a form in your child's agenda that must be signed and brought back with your child to school each day. If you do not bring the form, your child will not be admitted to school.

CAT 4

This Wednesday, the grade one students will be writing the CAT (Canadian Achievement Test). This test assesses students' reading, language, spelling and math skills. The CAT also evaluates how well students perform in comparison to other students across Canada.

There is no specific preperation for this test. The test is comprised of elements that have been taught throughout the year. We will be taking the test together. Please make sure your child gets proper rest and eats a good breakfast. Please be on time and present for the day.

Christmas Concert

Our Christmas Concert is Wednesday night. Please have your child dressed in costume and in their classroom by 6:30 pm.

Girls are to wear a dress. They may choose to wear a normal dress or a costume dress as all girls are princesses in the French play. Olivia and Jessica, your costumes are at school. You may change when you arrive.
All girls also need to bring a hat, scarf and mittens.

Remembrance Day

Dear Parents,

This Wednesday is Remembrance Day. There is no school on Wednesday. Please use this day to talk to your child about the great sacrifices that have been made by others so that we might enjoy freedom. We will be learning about Remembrance Day in class on Tuesday. I would encourage you to take your child to your local cenotaph to observe a Remembrance Day service. There is a Remembrance Day Service at the
cenotaph in Streetsville. Veterans begin marching at 10:15am from the Legion to the cenotaph.

We will be watching this video in class and discussing it. I chose this videos because it talks about the war and the great sacrifices made, but avoids graphic pictures. I would encourage to watch the video at home with your child.

Halloween Fun!

We had fun dressing up on Friday. Both teachers and students came dressed in costumes. The day ended with a costume contest.

Monday - Hot lunch orders for November are due.

Tuesday - Casual Day - If you didn't pay at the beginning of the year and would like to participate, please bring in $2.

Friday - Come dressed in a costume. Each student who comes dressed in a costume will receive extra house points. We will also be having a small party that afternoon. If you wish, you may send in treats to share. Please remember that there are 16 students in the class. Please send in only nut-free treats.

Friday - Progress reports go home.

How We Express Ourselves

We are beginning new units or inquiry under the theme the theme "How We Express Ourselves". More information to follow. Grade one students will be building pretend playgrounds. Kindergarten will be building the settings in their stories. Please send in paper towel tubes, egg cartons, small boxes and anything else you think would be helpful.
